Set in a small Northern town in 1987, Accumulator follows George Cates, a sharp-witted bookie with a knack for reading people and a bad habit of pushing his luck. When he realises he can make more money by having the townsfolk bet on each other’s actions, business starts to boom. But when two smooth-talking conmen roll into town with a “surveillance camera trial,” George’s little game catches the attention of the rich and reckless from the big city.
Soon, they’re demand for more sinister bets pushes George into a moral gamble he can’t afford to lose. Darkly funny, fast-paced and fiercely original, Accumulator is a new British musical about luck, greed, and what happens when a town built on chance runs out of it.
