What is Accumulator about?
Set in a small Northern town in 1987, Accumulator follows George Cates, a sharp-witted bookie with a talent for reading people—and a dangerous habit of pushing his luck. When he discovers he can profit by letting the townsfolk bet on each other’s actions, business booms. But when outside investors arrive with deeper pockets and darker appetites, the stakes escalate fast. What begins as a clever hustle spirals into a high-risk moral game where the cost of winning might be everything.

What stage is the project currently at?
Accumulator is fully written, with a completed script and a full demo soundtrack already recorded. We are planning to put on a workshop to develop the project further, which will hopefully allow us to share the project with collaborators, producers, and industry professionals as we move toward full production.

To help bring these songs to life, some tracks use enhanced vocal processing (because, despite my best efforts, my own singing wasn't quite ready for the West End!). This was done simply to present the songs as they were imagined, and to give listeners the clearest picture of the musical's creative vision. We intend to make a cast recording in the near future.

ABout the writer
Jack Kelly is the writer and composer behind Accumulator. Jack was born in the North West and now lives and works in Chester. He studied Film Production at Staffordshire University, leaving with a First Class Honours degree, a student Royal Television Society award, and enough debt to immediately reconsider a career in the creative arts. In 2024, Jack self-published his debut novel, 95 Revolutions, with proceeds donated to the mental health charity Mind. Outside of writing, Jack runs a successful online business specialising in vintage toys and collectibles. Accumulator is his first original musical.
